The only thing worse than the fact that ignorance like this exists is the fact that ignorance like this is given a public platform to voice its ignorance on television time and again. Almost every talking-head show out there has, at one time or another, allowed these perfectly brain-dead know-nothings to blabber out falsehoods and bizarre fictions. Meanwhile, there is no doubt that these women don't even come up with their own concerns to be concerned about: the same deep pockets that fund other right-wing lies have manufactured all its political rhetoric and filled up its media war-chest.
Check out this latest insane theory: that those of us who support sex education are actually conspiring to raise abortion rates! Apparently, we WANT people to get STDs - that's why we are so eager to teach them to use condoms to prevent STDs: so we can see them get more STDs. WTF?
There are some people in this country who are are so blinded by their belief in the abstinence agenda that they have left the world of reality and entered a state of delusion. That's the only way to describe Concerned Women for America President, Wendy Wright, who appeared on the December 31st edition of Special Report. Miss Wright, in all seriousness, said this about those who support comprehensive sex ed in the schools: "In fact, they want to encourage [kids to choose to have sex] because they benefit when kids end up having sexually transmitted diseases, unintended pregnancies and then they lead them into having abortions, so you have to look at the financial motives behind those who are promoting comprehensive sex ed."
Look, I'm all about the free speech. You want to host hate-mongers on your tv show, go right ahead. It's America. But for God's sake don't pitch these people against moderates on the other side. The hell with those high-minded, literate, polite people who defend Planned Parenthood. If you're going to allow right-wing nut-jobs to ooze their poisonous Fundamentalist ideologies all over the screen, then at least have the balls to bring in some left-wing libertine atheists to dispute them. Someone who'll stand up and say that the age of consent should be lowered nation-wide, that fucking is both an art AND a craft, and that teenagers should be encouraged to develop the skills necessary to be good sex partners to their future spouses. Someone who'll say, hey, experimentation is normal! Sex is fun! Repression is the enemy! People who think "Fuck you" is just another friendly way to say "Have a nice day!"
Seriously, the only way we'll ever stop future generation of idiots like Wendy Wright from being born is ADEQUATE BIRTH CONTROL!
Facts about the CWA you might not know,
from People for the American Way
The CWA was founded by Beverly LaHaye, wife of Religious Right activist Tim LaHaye (co-founder of "The Moral Majority"). Quote from Beverly LaHaye: “Christian values should dominate our government. The test of those values is the Bible. Politicians who do not use the Bible to guide their public and private lives do not belong in office.”
CWA opposes gay rights, comprehensive sex education, drug and alcohol education, and feminism.
In 2002, CWA reported earnings in the form of “gifts, grants and contributions received” in the amount of $10,731,558
CWA fights against sex education curricula that is not completely abstinence based and opposes anti-drug and alcohol abuse programs that emphasize self-esteem.
CWA has also been active in supporting the teaching of Creationism and “Intelligent Design theory” in science classrooms.
CWA supports the “Truth in Love” campaign that says that homosexuality is a sin and claims gays and lesbians can become “straight” through “the love of Jesus Christ.”
In the summer of 2001 the LaHayes gave Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University $4.5 million. (Beverly LaHaye is a trustee of the university.)

Late in his life, W. C. Fields was spotted reading a bible. When asked why a life-long atheist would be reading the bible, he replied: "I'm looking for loopholes."
Pretty much the only reason I read the bible.
Here are some things which AREN'T forbidden by the "good book": blackmail (yes, "baring false witness" is forbidden, but blackmail is refusing to bare ANY witness... for a price.), cannibalism (pork and shellfish, yes, but nothing against eating people.), lesbianism ("Spilling seed" was the sin of Onan, but there's nothing I can find against two women licking carpet.), recreational drugs (They didn't exist when the bible was written.), and drinking high-proof alcohol (ditto.)
These are just a few things that aren't directly forbidden by the bible. Funny that none of the religious right-wingers mention any of this.

How can one reason with such lunacy? Where do they come from? What makes them so afraid of sex and reason?
