FOUND: Accidental Porn

I think of this pic as "accidental" because I can't help thinking the models never intended to be porn models in the first place.  Although the girls clearly are posing willingly for this campy old (50s? 60s?) shot, something about their expressions and positions scream amateur, if not dupe.   It gives me the queasy feeling that they had no idea what they were in for when they showed up for this appointment.

Maybe it's the tight-lipped look on the face of the woman on the left and the stiff way she's standing.  She looks totally uneasy about being naked.  If she sucked in her belly any harder, her ass would blow off.

But the dazed celeb-u-grin on the one with the bee-hived bob isn't exactly reassuring either.  She looks as if she's posing on the red carpet at the Academy awards instead of in a cheap, grotty office somewhere in midtown Manhattan.  Or maybe Cleveland.  Let me guess...um...could it be a wannabe actress/model who thought this was her first step towards theatrical greatness? *cringe*  I can almost see the photographer conning these two naifs into peeling off their clothes while he snapped as fast as he could before they realized what was happening.

OK, ok, so I have a vivid imagination.  So shoot me.  What do you see?  Better still, perhaps someone can prove me wrong and provide the names of these models and other nude work they did. :)

Train toilet drags passenger round the bend

BORDEAUX, France (AFP) – A Frenchman became trapped while trying to fish his mobile phone out of the toilet on a high-speed train, forcing firefighters to cut through the U-bend to free him, passengers said.

"He came out on a stretcher, with his hand still jammed in the toilet bowl, which they had to saw clean off," said Benoit Gigou, who witnessed Sunday's rescue....

The service was delayed for two hours after the 26-year-old victim, hunting for his lost telephone, fell prey to the powerful suction system which drains the loos on board.

Spicy pork sausage found in 'soiled diapers'

Customs inspectors scored the makings of a barbecue when a 21-year-old South Texas woman declared several soiled baby diapers at a U.S.-Mexico border crossing.

Suspicious of the chunky diapers, inspectors with U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the international bridge in Hidalgo found several links of spicy pork sausage, or chorizo, inside. The diapers had been folded to look soiled, according to a customs agency statement.

The Mission resident, who was not identified after the Friday night incident, was fined $300 and her chorizo was seized.

Fat Girls Have More Fun

Now here's a study I believe: Fat women have more sex than ‘normal’ counterparts.

 It's never been proven that thin women are more likely to get laid than women with curves. From talking to gezillions of men about their sexual preferences, I could probably count on only one hand the number of men who felt that extra padding was bad. Most men are accepting of body size variations, whereas the one who only find bone-thin ladies attractive is vanishingly small. On the other hand, I have heard, over and over and over again, how extra padding is (or can be) very sexy and have known quite a few men with a decided preference for round and curvalicious girls.

When it comes to being judgmental about weight on a woman, that judgment usually comes from other women, and from the dopey magazines we read which send the message that we won't get a man unless we look anorexic.

So I'm liking this simple study which makes the honest observation that women of the plumper persuasion are as desirable as the next gal, and possibly even more so.

FOUND: Does This Penis Have a Point?

Found this jaunty fellow for sale on eBay recently, attributed to artist Gary Grayson.   Looks so sweetly, innocently plump, doesn't it?  I could see growing a penis patch in my garden, and watching them blow in the wind.....

I'm of two minds when it comes to artistic depictions of the penis.  But it has nothing to do with the prude's favorite lament that genitalia aren't appropriate subjects for art.  As far as I'm concerned, the penis is a perfectly suitable subject for art.  If hands and feet are apt subjects, certainly the penis should have an equally important place in representational art.  Same same for the vagina.  So I always welcome a good penis portrait. 

But my problem with penis art is this: is this penis saying something new?  Or could we find the exact same penis message in a thousand other penis paintings?  And if, in art, a penis is a penis is a penis, then do we need more penises?

Now, the penis above does seem to be striving for a new vision.  It's a monolith rising up in a a surrealistic garden.  OK.  Not so special.  Indeed, feels derivative somehow.  Nothing original about the notion of pubes being flowers and grasses, either.  Still, I feel that this penis is trying to say something unique.  I just can't quite figure out what it is.  Can you?

Our Nation's Shame: soldier-on-soldier sexual violence

The idea that 15% of women in the military have been raped may come as a shock to those unfamiliar with the silent tragedy going on in our military.  To folks who've kept an eye on that story, however, it seems like a low estimate because most incidents of sexual harassment, abuse, and, yes, even rape, are unreported by military victims.

The military certainly does not encourage soldiers to report when they've been raped; indeed, I've known more than one female soldier who was treated like the criminal instead of the victim by military authorities.

This number also does not reflect the plight of gay men in the military. The government probably will never publish statistics on it, but many of our gay soldiers are dealing with sexual violence as well. The "don't ask, don't tell" policy may explain why so few gay soldiers report these incidents. When a male soldier reports that he's been raped, he can pretty much kiss his military career goodbye.

Nearly 15 percent of female US veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan experienced sexual trauma during their military service, the Department of Veterans Affairs said in a study.

The study, based on data from 100,000 veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom who used VA health care, found that more than one in seven women reported having experienced "military sexual trauma".  The study, covering a six year period, also found that 0.7 percent of men returning from duty reported military sexual trauma.

Individuals, both female and male, who experienced sexual trauma in the service had a greater probability of being diagnosed with a mental illness upon return than those who did not report such trauma, researchers found.

I So Doubt It

Sometimes you really cannot blame the researchers for the way their studies are reported.

Scientists don't "know why" love and hate are linked -- they just found a clue that may, ultimately, lead to firmer conclusions about the brain's role in emotions.  Makes good headlines to dumb it down though, I guess.

It often seems a thin line between love and hate, and now scientists think they know why.

Brain scans of people shown images of individuals they hated revealed a pattern of brain activity that partly occurs in areas also activated by romantic love, Semir Zeki and John Paul Romaya of University College London reported on Wednesday.

 "This linkage may account for why love and hate are so closely linked to each other in life," the researchers wrote in the Public Library of Science journal PLoS One.

I'm all about new-wave evolutionary biology and how primate behaviors are deeply encoded in our brains and/or DNA. We are primates, after all, and no matter how civilized we may be, you still can't civilize that fundamental biology out of us. God knows organized religions and governments have tried.

As a sexologist, the subject is particularly fascinating because it raises so many questions about whether it's possible (or ever will be possible) to ascertain how much human sexual response is biological, how much a result of social conditioning, how much is individualistic response to variable stimuli, and how much of our sexual behavior is free will and conscious choice.

Still, I cracked up when I read this report.  In light of all the other research coming down the pike, it's not out of the box to assert that men have a deeply rooted biological response to women who wear red. Perhaps it's true that when women put on red dresses they are, as one researcher suggests, giving male counterparts a vague visual facsimile of a baboon's swollen genitalia during estrus.

But...I don't know. If they're going to assert that all it takes is the sight of red on a woman to drive men's reptile brains into raptures of primate lust, I want to know if they tested the red dress=baboon ass=schwing theory by showing men pix of women who smeared menstrual blood on their behinds?  Did they show women in different styles of red dress -- for example, do men find mumus as hot as minis?

I'm thinking it's got to be more than a baboon-ass type thing happening here. Though, ok, I confess, I love the concept that men really are that simple.

The study led by psychology professor Andrew Elliot of the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, seemed to confirm red as the color of romance -- as so many Valentine's Day card makers and lipstick sellers have believed for years. Although this "red alert" may be a product of human society associating red with love for eons, it also may arise from more primitive biological roots, Elliot said. Noting the genetic similarity of humans to higher primates, he said scientists have shown that certain male primates are especially attracted to females of their species displaying red. For example, female baboons and chimpanzees show red coloring when nearing ovulation, sending a sexual signal that the males apparently find irresistible.

Gerard Damiano, director of the pioneering pornographic film that lent its name to the Watergate whistleblower known as "Deep Throat," has died. He was 80. Damiano died Saturday at a Fort Myers hospital, his son, Gerard Damiano Jr., said Monday. He had suffered a stroke in September.

Fascinating news from Australia, where scientists have discovered more evidence to support the theory that transgenderism has a genetic basis.

Australian researchers have identified a significant link between a gene involved in testosterone action and male-to-female transsexualism. DNA analysis from 112 male-to-female transsexual volunteers showed they were more likely to have a longer version of the androgen receptor gene. The genetic difference may cause weaker testosterone signals, the team reported in Biological Psychiatry. Link

A few good (naked) men

Is it still a man's world?  Fuck yes.  Especially when it comes to juicy free images that appeal to a het female.  Most straight porn is, of course, produced for men, and focuses more on women and the things they do with men.  Most femdom porn includes...a femdom!  I love seeing guys being put through their paces but frankly, the presence of another FemDom kills the buzz for me.  My favorite kind of male porn is just images of naked men.  Bonus if they look submissive but not required -- my mind can always find a way to get them into humiliation situations. Problems are (a) you usually have to join a gay porn site to see anything worthwhile and don't know IF there's anything worthwhile until you join, and  (b) gay porn caters to gay fantasies, not the stuff a het woman necessarily finds hot.  While there is plenty of overlap between the stuff I fantasize about and the stuff gay men fantasize about, there are qualitative differences in porn tastes.  For example, I don't want to see hairless twinks pouting provocatively.  I am so bored with shaved balls I could scream.  Perhaps it's my age speaking -- or more likely a mild hair fetish -- but I've always found pubic hair on men to be SEXY.  Similarly, as cute as men may be in their early 20s, I want adult men -- hairy, wrinkled, imperfect and real-looking adult males.  And while it's super-hot to imagine coercing two men into a hot scene (yum), gay men who can't wait to dive into each others' orifices are just not the same kind of thrill.  Especially when you know they'd probably rather not have a woman anywhere in the vicinity. 

I decided to do a little search on eBay this week to see what kind of naked male images I might find for sale in the form of posters, paintings, postcards, etc.  Not surprisingly, most were by/for gay males.  Nonetheless, because these were all more artistic and creative efforts, they definitely held more interest for me than most of what I see on porn sites.   (Even the 20-something guy on the plate at least has a real bush of pubes.)   Any other women agree?  I'll list artist names where they were available.

Make Swingtown your town

If you haven't seen it, you might want to watch (on Netflix) or buy the DVD (coming in December) of the CBS series "Swingtown."  A summer replacement show, the series is set in mid-70s Chicago, and focuses on a group of married couples who get involved in the swing scene.  It's not as glam as Sex in the City or as addictive as House, but it's one of the few network shows aimed at a sexually liberal adult audience.  Naturally, the show's sensitive exploration of swinging in America has freaked out conservative Christian viewers who immediately launched protests and demanded that the show be canceled.  The usual suspects -- the American Family Association and the Parents Television  -- have been spearheading this  effort.  With ratings mixed and a couple of big advertisers chickening out in response to pressure from Wildmon's followers, the fate of the show is now up in the air, as CBS tries to decide whether or not to cave.  (You can read more about it on Wiki.)

Strange history: The Navy v. Dorothy

Heard my husband chortling the other day -- he'd found this little gem on Wiki.

In the early 1980s, the Naval Investigative Service was investigating homosexuality in the Chicago area. Agents discovered that gay men sometimes referred to themselves as "friends of Dorothy." Unaware of the historical meaning of the term, the NIS believed that a woman named Dorothy was at the center of a massive ring of homosexual military personnel. The NIS launched an enormous hunt for Dorothy, hoping to find her and convince her to reveal the names of gay servicemembers.

Prodommes tortured by economic woes

Almost missed this article in the NY Post from the other week, about the formation of DomPAC, a political lobbying group which will aim to gain legal rights for BDSMers (and specifically the sex-workers who cater to BDSMers).    Apparently between some recent busts in NYC, and generalized fear that the economy's going ass-up, prodommes are having a hard time earning a living and are doing what they can to protect their businesses.

New York's dominatrixes have been getting spanked by the economy recently - and now, they're lashing back.

Already reeling from a series of local prostitution raids, dommes have also had to grapple with disobedient clients who can't afford to pay for their punishments.

To address the double-whammy hitting their industry, many of them want to form a political-action committee and union to represent their interests.

"It's never been worse. Business is down 70 percent," said Mistress Johanna, owner of Chelsea's Le Salon DeSade. "We've had all these busts, and now the economy is out of control. The uncertainty is torturing us."

If you've ever doubted that the emotions people experience for their on-line lovers are real to them, and sometimes desperately so, check out this story from Japan. The "murderess" got busted for violating all sorts of privacy laws to carry out her virtual revenge against the guy who jilted her.

TOKYO – A 43-year-old Japanese woman whose sudden divorce in a virtual game world made her so angry that she killed her online husband's digital persona has been arrested on suspicion of hacking, police said Thursday. The woman, who is jailed on suspicion of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating electronic data, used his identification and password to log onto popular interactive game "Maple Story" to carry out the virtual murder in mid-May

The Internet element to this story is probably why it's making off-beat news headlines today. If reporters tried to cover every angry ex who slashed their partner's tires or broke into their houses to take something, newspapers would look like phonebooks. It's odd to me that now, more than 25 years since computer connectivity first allowed geeks to frolic at whim, news media and readers alike still find it bizarre and humorous that Internet users take their on-line relationships seriously.

It's impossible to quantify just how many regular Net users are seriously involved in virtual relationships but if you add up all the people you know who have intense on-line relationships, and then multiply it by all the chat-room and dating services throughout the Internet, and then multiply it again by all the sex-worker sites, you get some vague idea of just how HUGE a number of people are falling in and out of love and sex all over the place.

As well they should. First, they're human, and to be human is to need to form emotional connections, intellectual friendships, and sexual bonds. So anyplace where people congregate socially, whether it's at a bar, an office party or in a "hot, hung, horny" chatroom on AOL, there's bound to be some degree of flirting and philandering. Second, people don't turn to cyber-flirting when their daily lives are already overwhelmingly exciting. More often, they look to cyber for a type of fulfillment they're not getting in 3D.

Cyber-relationships don't have all the same ingredients as 3D relationships. They depend on language and imagination more than anything, sometimes with a heavy dose of fantasy projection thrown in. But so what? How many real relationships are based on real things? Does grocery shopping and movie-watching with someone in 3D necessarily mean you share a closer bond with them than with someone on-line who knows all your darkest, dirties secrets?

Cyber love may be different from 3D love -- based on different things, with different limits and boundaries -- but that doesn't make it less real. The above story reminded me of that: love is love, and heartbreaks hurt just as bad on the Internet as in 3D.

UK to pervs: The Beat May NOT Go On

I've blogged before about the deeply troubling new law being written in the UK, putatively to protect women and children from sexual abuse -- and, in the process, legalizing discrimination against BDSMers. Thanks to Phil for pointing me to the latest dreadful news.

Government tied in knots by bondage protest

"Forget the whips and chains: it's actually a lot more serious than that". This was the view of Consenting Adult Action Network Spokesperson and disability activist Clair Lewis, as she joined fashion photographer Ben Westwood and a bevy of bound and gagged models in a demonstration against what they believe to be the latest government witch-hunt.

"It is easy to trivialise this as being about a bunch of people worried about their porn stash when the extreme porn law goes live in January," said Clair. "But the issues run far wider.

"Back in 2006 government were still openly claiming that they had no evidence that porn did any harm. Despite that, they changed the Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons Act at the last minute to make it possible to bar individuals from ‘regulated jobs’ just for possessing porn of any degree of violence. In that one act, they effectively ruled our community out of almost half the jobs on offer.

So, to summarize: in their misplaced zeal to protect victims of sex crimes, UK politicians have decided to enact a law that, in effect, destroys the civil rights of kinky people and makes them vulnerable to prosecution. If the law passes as written, depictions of consensual kink will be criminal. Adults who enjoy BDSM images, stories, and, yes, even relationships, may be subject to state-authorized persecution. Overnight, the consenting kinky adult becomes a criminal, subject to workplace and other forms of discrimination.

No doubt some of the politicians pushing this through are gleefully exploiting this opportunity to advance a larger anti-sex agenda. It's a conspiracy of twisted Victorian prudes and sexual hysterics. Lawmakers are ignoring the facts about sex in favor of beliefs about sex. As has been proven time and again, such laws barely make a dent in predatory behaviors. Sociopaths will break the new laws, just as they broke the old ones. It's the law-abiding kinky citizen who will suffer the most. Police and other legal authorities will now have a club to beat down BDSMers. Indeed, this piece of legislation may cast a general chill over the free and open expression of human sexuality in all its permutations.

For those Brits who believe it's justifiable to sacrifice the rights of kinksters in order to protect children and potential rape victims, I say, what a steaming pile of BOLLOCKS. Lawmakers can write laws in ways to protect minority interests if and when they want to. They can change wording, modify clauses, they can even include clarifications and exemptions. Better still, they can more successfully enforce existing laws. Or, hey, here's a radical concept: how about not continually writing new laws which dictate what kinds of sex consenting adults may or may not choose to enjoy?
