Covering two big issues tonight. First, the question of whether or not to be out and how out you should be, within your own community and in the outside world. I'll be talking specifically about the BDSM community but the discussion about sexual identity and how to handle it in a sex-negative world is relevant to everyone who doesn't quit fit into the binary/vanilla mold.
Second, last week we talked about Dateline NBC's tawdry handling of a murder in a ritzy suburb of Detroit which exposed the BDSM community to some bad publicity. This week I want to talk about what you -- as a private individual or group leader -- can do to mitigate media disasters. As someone who's been on both sides of the fence, and who deals with media types almost daily, I know there are measures you can take to control damage before it occurs.
As always, my beloved sidekick Jennifer will be there to snark at me and misdirect the dialogue, share news, and otherwise make the show a merry enterprise, even as we fill your brain with delicious new ideas about sexuality.
Join us tonight, LIVE at 11 pm eastern on Seriously Sexual sex talk radio. Here's the official show description for tonight.
Is it time to put a realer, more human face on BDSM? We're going to be talking about the difficulties and the rewards of being out, good and bad ways to do it, and why Gloria thinks it's time to put a realer face on the kink we love. ALSO tonite: HOW TO NOT BE A MEDIA PAWN. Following up from last week, Gloria's got some serious advice on how to get the respect you deserve from reporters. With Jennifer Bangs, faithful sidekick and spunky monkey, it's going to be a BDSM toughlovefest tonight.
