There are SO many considerations (social, familial, personal) and so many emotions that go into a permanent commitment that sex is seldom the singlemost important factor when people pick a life-partner. So it doesn't surprise me in the least that people don't necessarily end up with the person with whom they had the hottest sex.
This writer think it's depressing! I think it's sad that married people give up on their sex lives because they COULD be having hotter sex if they tried. But IMHO grown-ups form long-term commitments based on a lot of factors, and sex is just one in the mix.
