Egyptian themes were all the rage in decorative arts and architecture in 19th c. Europe, after the 18th c. Napoleanic expedition to Egypt yielded vast exotic treasures. "Egyptomania" reigned until the 1930s or so. This photo was likely shot some time between 1915-1923.
